In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1920s.
It comes with its original working key which locks the lid and both drawers. It is made of oak and the drawers have small brass handles and there is a brass carrying handle on the top.
It could have originally been used in a workshop to contain small parts but it would now make a lovely specimen / collectors chest or even a jewellery box or stationery cabinet.
It is in good condition for its age and has a lovely patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of age and use, some minor surface marks and knocks and an old shrinkage split in the top but no major damages and overall the piece displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
