Description

An Early 19th Century Jug by Turners.

With a silver plated domed and hinged cover, opening with a rolled scroll thumb grip. The rim of the jug mounted and flowing to a rounded spout, over a horizontal reeded neck. The jug with a rounded body topped with hanging leaves and foliage, over a scene of hounds coursing in full flight, amongst fields and trees, as followers clamber over a gate and hedge in pursuit. The jug finished with a lower band of simulated basket work and mounted with a handle, finished with a spreading leaf terminal.

The underside of the jug impressed for 'TURNER' being John Turner of Stoke and Longton 1737 - 1835.

Date circa 1800.
