1900 - 1920
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique Edwardian 5.88 carat diamond, silver and 14 carat yellow gold set star brooch: part of our diverse Edwardian jewelry collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive diamond brooch has been crafted in silver with a 14ct yellow gold fastening.

The tiered stellate design is ornamented with a feature central claw set 0.78ct Old European cut diamond.

The feature diamond is encompassed with eight claw set Old European round cut diamonds.

The eight floriated-style points of the brooch are each embellished with six pavé set Old European cut diamonds, graduating in size dependant on location.

The tiered stellate style setting is further ornamented with eight protruding collet set Old European round cut diamonds, bearing plain stems, completing the design.

This versatile brooch secures to the reverse with a detachable 14ct yellow gold hinged pin and clasp fastening; the detachable fastening enables the piece to be converted into a pendant if required, in addition to indicating the high quality of the piece.

This stunning Edwardian diamond brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as silver and 14 carat gold.

This impressive brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report certificate for the feature stone, in addition to an IDGL diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

Such examples with a combination of larger high quality diamonds are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

This Edwardian diamond star brooch is an elegant gift for milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Its celestial motif symbolises guidance and admiration, making it ideal for a mentor, partner or mother.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This stunning antique brooch is exceptional quality, set with a stunning diamond displaying a fine white colour, brilliance and presence.

The supporting evenly colour matched diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance; although some of the diamonds are clarity graded at P1, they show no unsightly black inclusions.

This multi-diamond brooch is an exceptional gauge of gold and silver, and is in exceptional condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this stunning example of Edwardian jewelry.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian starburst brooch is a piece of fine jewellery created between 1901 and 1910, characterized by celestial motifs, intricate metalwork, and pave-set diamonds designed to resemble radiating light.

Jewellers during the Edwardian period predominantly worked with silver-topped gold or platinum to securely mount old cut diamonds, ensuring the white metal enhanced the stones colourlessness while gold provided structural strength.

Authentic pieces usually feature hand-cut diamonds such as old European or mine cuts, silver-topped gold construction, delicate millegrain edging, and period-appropriate fastenings like C-clasps or long pin stems.

An antique diamond brooch can be fastened to blazer lapels, worn centrally at the collar of a crisp shirt, secured onto a velvet ribbon as a choker, or integrated into an updo hair arrangement.

Clean the brooch gently using a soft toothbrush, mild soapy water, and a lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could damage historical silver patination or loosen stone settings.
