Very Fine Early 18th Century Mahogany Chest Of Drawers

An exceptional and rare Early George II Mahogany Chest of Drawers with brushing slide of superb colour, retaining the original handles, locks and escutcheons. In wonderful untouched original condition throughout having the extremely rare feature of original feet and casters. Beautifully made from the finest cuts of figured Mahogany with with fabulously clean oak drawer linings. The fine cockbead to the edge of the drawers has been made from cross grain sections, a very rare feature and a real sign of quality. A Georgian key remains with the piece and works the lock to the top drawer.
 
A rare piece of early English Mahogany Furniture, likely to have been made by one of the leading London Workshops of the period and bearing strong similarities including handles to labeled pieces by Giles Grendey. Circa 1735.
 
The same handle can be seen on a labeled Giles Grendey Walnut Chest that was previously with Mallets of London and more recently sold by Mackinnon Antiques.
