*17th-century limewood carvings are known for their intricate detail and naturalistic representations, often featuring religious figures, decorative elements, and portraiture. Limewood, with its fine grain and workability, and relatively light weight, was a favored material for such carvings, particularly in the Baroque period, primarily from the late 16th century to the mid-18th century.
