Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts jewellery created around 1900 emphasised handcraftsmanship, honest use of materials, and naturalistic motifs in reaction against mass industrial production. Designers often favoured hand-hammered metals, enamel plaques depicting landscapes or botanicals, and stylised flowing forms.

Brooches of this era were frequently crafted from yellow gold, such as 15ct gold, or silver. The decorative focal points utilised vitreous enamel applied via cloisonne or champleve techniques to achieve rich, luminous colours.

Authentic pieces by Murrle Bennet & Co typically feature their distinctive makers mark MBCo, often alongside purity stamps such as 15ct or 9ct. Their designs are characterised by German Jugendstil and British Arts and Crafts styling with delicate gold wirework and enamel work.

An antique brooch can be worn on the lapel of a tailored blazer, fastened to a silk scarf, or placed on a coat collar. Pinning it to a fabric handbag or using it to secure a knitwear wrap adds a classic accent to modern attire.

Clean enamel jewellery gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals, or submerging the piece in water, as heat and moisture can compromise antique enamel and solder joints.
