This fine antique Victorian Albert chain has fancy ''Stars & Bars'' style links. Each link is fashioned in 9ct gold and has developed a lovely rosy hue with age.
Albert chains were named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first World War who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.
It''s a wonderful antique Albert chain with a classic T-bar at the bottom and a double dog clip clasp at the top.
