Antique Treen 19thc Scottish Small Staved And Banded Drinking Vessel Known As A Bicker. Scottish C1820-40.

Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A skillfully made early 19thc Scottish drinking vessel known as a bicker....it is made from fruitwood and alder....the alder is put into peat to get the deep rich colour.... I always admire the skill of the maker as he / she has ''feathered'' the alder to make it water tight....a skill that is sadly dying out today....the whole vessel is then bound in willow and just to top all this off, the underneath has even been made in segments....very good colour and in excellent condition.

Scottish. C1820-40.
