Lebrecht studied at the Royal Art School in Stuttgart under Ludwig von Herterich and Robert von Haug after an early apprenticeship in bookselling. He gained recognition as a book illustrator and later as a painter of landscapes, hunting scenes, and war imagery. His experiences during World War I and extensive travels, including to the Puszta and Dalmatia, influenced his artistic style.

During the 1930/40's, Lebrecht exhibited 21 works across eight Great German Art Exhibitions at the Munich House of German Art, including Comrades (1937) and Around the Dawn (1938). He also held influential cultural positions, notably heading the Department of Painting, Graphics, and Sculpture at the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts in Berlin.
