Augustus Jules Bouvier (1827–1881) was a French-born London-based painter of portraits, figures and genre scenes. He was the son of the artist Jules Bouvier (1800-1867), who was born in Paris, but moved to London in 1818. Bouvier entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1841 and afterwards studied in Paris.
Augustus Jules Bouvier produced a series of drawings of Queens of England, which were also later engraved. The artist's work is well-collected and his refinement of detail and tonality made him one of the pre-eminent painters of the aesthetic movement within the specialism of the watercolour medium.
