Description

A fine and highly collectible Satsuma bowl by Kinkozan, Kyoto, Meiji period (circa 1900). The lobed bowl is exquisitely hand-painted with a charming scene of rooster, hen and chicks beneath blooming chrysanthemums, set before Mt. Fuji. The decoration is richly detailed with moriage gilt and polychrome enamels. Exterior with wisteria and geometric panels. The Kinkozan mark is clearly visible to the base.

Presented on its original carved wood stand. In excellent condition: no chips, cracks or restoration; only minor age-appropriate wear to the gilding and fine crackle typical for Meiji Satsuma. Rare in this quality.
