For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique Victorian 1.25 carat peridot and 1.95 carat diamond, 9 carat yellow gold and silver set pendant / brooch; part of our diverse antique peridot jewellery collections.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique pendant/brooch has been crafted in 9ct yellow gold with a silver setting.

The symmetrical, floriated design is ornamented with a feature 1.25ct oval faceted cut peridot, yellow gold claw set to the centre of the frame.

The feature gemstone is encircled with six individually millegrain decorated collet set Old European round cut diamonds, creating a base to six petal designs.

Each petal bears a further collet set Old European round cut diamond to the upper portion, in addition to three pavé set Dutch cut diamonds to the curvilinear frame, completing the floral design.

The Victorian pendant suspends from an 18' contemporary yellow gold chain via a tapering, hinged bale.

The antique pendant may also be worn as a brooch via a detachable hinged pin and clasp to the reverse of the frame; the detachable pin indicates the high quality of the piece.

This stunning antique brooch /pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 9 carat gold and silver.

This impressive Victorian peridot and diamond brooch is supplied with an IDGL diamond and gemstone grading report card.

This peridot and diamond brooch pendant is a versatile and meaningful gift, ideal for August birthdays, 16th anniversaries or collectors of distinctive antique jewellery. Its dual design offers both function and historical charm.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive antique pendant is exceptional quality, set with a stunning peridot displaying fine colour, brilliance and presence.

The high colour graded feature diamonds display a fine white colour, brilliance and presence and the supporting diamonds bear a fine white colour and brilliance; although clarity graded as P1, they all face up with fine brilliance.

This antique peridot brooch/pendant is an exceptional gauge of gold and silver, and is in exceptional condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique peridot jewellery.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late Victorian era, around 1890, peridot gained significant popularity due to its olive-green colour, often paired with diamond accents in intricate floral or starburst openwork designs.

Jewellers commonly combined yellow gold backings with silver settings for diamonds to accentuate brilliance, incorporating gemstones such as peridot, sapphire, or garnet.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut gemstones, open-backed settings for coloured stones, and convertible fittings like detachable brooch pins or removable suspension loops.

A dual-purpose piece can be suspended from a fine gold chain for daily wear or attached to a jacket lapel, scarf, or ribbon for evening attire.

Peridot is a moderately soft stone, so it should be cleaned gently using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and chemicals.
