Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian occasional tables produced between 1901 and 1910 often drew inspiration from eighteenth-century Neoclassical, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite designs. They feature lightweight proportions, geometric or floral marquetry inlays, delicate square tapered legs, and secondary lower shelves known as undertiers.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood, frequently combining them with contrasting boxwood or ebony stringing. Veneers were applied over hardwood or softwood cores to create detailed central medallion inlays and crossbanded borders.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut marquetry, natural age-related patination, and period joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails or mortise and tenon joints. The timber on the underside typically shows oxidisation consistent with early twentieth-century manufacture.

An Edwardian lamp table functions well beside a sofa or armchair to hold lighting, or placed within an entryway or alcove as a standalone accent table. Its compact footprint makes it suitable for smaller spaces needing functional timber furniture.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid placing items in direct sunlight, near radiators, or in humid environments to prevent the wood veneer from lifting or cracking.
