Victorian Antique Silver “Sporran” Box, Edinburgh 1881

Description

A very unusual Scottish antique silver "sporran" shaped box. This was made in Edinburgh in 1881 by Mackay and Chisholm. The back of the box is fully hallmarked and a sliding lock closure. There is a hanging chain and 6 coloured glass tear drops on the front. Overall this stylish snuff box is in excellent condition with only a couple of tiny dings on the back. A very beautiful piece, well made and expertly finished, a very collectable piece of Scottish silver.

WEIGHT; 55 grams approximately.
