Antique Early Metalware 18thc Pewter "Ships" Inkwell Initialled I. R. English C1770-90

£110    $148    €127
A fine example of a pewter ''ships'' inkwell, this form is known as a ''capstan''....made for more stability as the ship crosses rough seas....it has a wide broad flat base and a cylindrical main body that is tapered from top to bottom with six quill holes in the top....it would have had a ceramic /glass liner which is missing, but otherwise in very good condition.

English. C1770-90.
