Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain and named after the Countess of Pembroke, this compact design features two drop leaves supported by hinged wooden brackets. It was created as a versatile occasional table for serving tea, writing, or dining in smaller drawing rooms.

These tables were predominantly constructed from dense timbers such as mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood. They frequently display flame mahogany veneers, boxwood or ebony stringing inlay, hand-dovetailed drawer linings, and cast brass feet or castors.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods inside the drawers, original brass cap or claw castors, and natural oxidisation on the unsanded undersides of the timber top.

A Pembroke table functions exceptionally well as a sofa side table, an entryway console, or a bedside table. The drop leaves allow the overall surface area to be adjusted based on spatial requirements and decorative displays.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a pure beeswax polish once or twice per year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid heat-induced shrinkage or finish fading.
