A Fabulous Murrle Bennett Silver & Amethyst Necklace Pendant

1900 - 1920
Description

A wonderful silver necklace pendant by Murrle Bennett & Co, well regarded for their Arts and crafts and Art Nouveau inspired pieces. This particular example dates to the turn of the 20th Century and is in the Arts and crafts taste. The shield shape pendant has a delightful hammered finish and is embellished with stud work details to the wire work frame. Centrally positioned is a gorgeous oval cut amethyst, set in a gold mount. Below is a smaller matching oval cut amethyst, set in a delicate gold mounted drop. The pendant is supported on a trace silver chain, with a spring ring clasp. An elegant and stylish piece, by a collectable maker.

Murrle Bennett & Co. was active from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Founded by Ernst Murrle and J.B. Bennett, the company became known for producing jewellery that embodied the ideals of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements. Dimensions below.
