PIERRE CHARLES LENOIR:** a charming and quite large French solid MARBLE SCULPTURE of a shy and pretty young girl, her left arm shielding her eyes from the light whilst standing demurely and naked but holding a cloak in her right hand. Good condition; no chips. Signed ''LENOIR'' to the integral circular base. 25.5ins (65 cms) high.
 
** PIERRE CHARLES LENOIR was born in May 1879 and emerged as one of the Breton sculptors who studied at the École des beaux Arts in Rennes (Brittany). He was son of Charles Joseph Lenoir (also a sculptor) and won medals for his acclaimed work in his own right. He became a director of the École des Beaux Arts, and in 1931 was made a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in 1931. A plaque marks his residence in Paris at 12, rue d’Auteuil in Paris.
