Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1910s.
He was son of Charles Joseph Lenoir (also a sculptor) and won medals for his acclaimed work in his own right. He became a director of the École des Beaux Arts, and in 1931 was made a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in 1931. A plaque marks his residence in Paris at 12, rue d’Auteuil in Paris.
