Daniell was Coalport''s principal London retailer porcelain.
Godden notes that this mark appears in the Coalport ''rag'' book which includes pulls from engraved copper plates once used by the factory and is in the nature of a record file of Coalport engraved crests and marks. Some rare marks such as this one, bear the place names of Royal palaces or residences, but of course these pieces seldomly come on the market.
This plate may have been made ...a sample plate for Windsor Castle as no known service in this pattern exists today.
