Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian copper samovar, or tea urn, is a metal vessel designed in 18th and early 19th-century Britain to heat and dispense water during tea service. Featuring classical urn proportions, internal heating chambers, and brass spigots, these functional objects were prominent centrepieces in formal dining spaces.

Antique tea urns were constructed primarily from hammered sheet copper, which was frequently lined with tin to prevent oxidisation and chemical reactions with boiling water. Decorative elements such as spigots, handles, finials, and feet were cast in brass or bronze, sometimes fitted with ebonised wood or bone handles to insulate against heat.

Authentic Georgian pieces exhibit hand-hammered or hand-spun copper bodywork, brazed seam lines, and heavy cast metal fittings. Key stylistic hallmarks include neoclassical urn shapes, reeded legs, lion-mask or ring handles, and natural wear around the tap mechanism and base plinth.

Place the copper tea urn on a dining room sideboard, kitchen island, or hallway console table to serve as a warm focal point. Its reflective metallic surface pairs effectively with dark timber furniture, stone surfaces, or minimalist neutral backdrops.

Dust the exterior regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip historical patina. If polishing is desired, apply a mild metal cleaner suitable for antique copper, leaving aged tarnish intact within carved or reeded recessed details.
