Desired Effect Antiques Ltd has dated this William IV Reclining Armchair to the Regency era.
The chair retains its original horsehair upholstery to the seat and buttoned back. The arms have been adapted more recently and were not sure quite how it would have originally been but it is needed to help the arms slide back.

The frame is structurally in good solid order and does show show signs of wear and some possible sun bleaching to the left front edge which we think adds to its appeal however this can be refinished if preferred.

The reclining mechanism works by simply moving the brass handles located under the arms and it has variable catches to stop the chair reclining past the desired angle you find comfortable. The reclining motion is a little stiff but does work.
