Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Specialised seafood implements, including lobster picks and oyster forks, gained prominence in nineteenth- and twentieth-century formal dining. Designed specifically for extracting meat from crustacean shells, these tools were produced by leading silversmiths to complement high-end tableware services.

High-grade seafood picks are typically constructed from solid sterling silver, composed of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for durability. Presentation sets often include fitted cases crafted from wood, lined with silk, velvet, or satin.

Authentic British sterling silver features official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, a makers mark, an assay town symbol, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Cased silver dining sets can be displayed open on a sideboard or within a glazed cabinet to highlight the metalwork and presentation lining, or used directly during formal dining arrangements.

Sterling silver should be washed gently in warm soapy water, rinsed, and dried immediately with a soft cotton cloth. Storage in anti-tarnish cloth bags or lined presentation boxes minimises oxidisation caused by atmospheric exposure.
