A very rare and fine set of eighteen 1930''s well figured ash captains or dining chairs of exceptional quality and beautifully carved with rich patination and grain. The upper back rail features a gorgeous shaped tablet crown raised over pierced back with decorative tapering square slats above a shaped seat flanked with a fabulous pair of outsplaying shepherds crook arms. Supported on outswept legs to the rear and elegantly tapering cabriole leg to the fore, united by a finely ring turned double ''H'' stretcher.
