A stunning and large original antique French gilded brass clocks set.
Candelabra have 5 elaborate acanthus arms and large original snuffers to match the final of the clock. The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging below the front of the case. This is a stunning, very large clock set with a superb original gild.
The beautiful, large enamel dial is lettered with the Brussels retailers name and is complete with the original finely cut gilt brass hands and convex glass.
The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and has the clockmakers mark on the movement backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in very good clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a large sonorous bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just a small nibble next to the right hand winding hole and a couple of faint hairlines and scratches Candelabra arms are slightly distorted.
