Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is a scarce Georgian, English triple-knopped, double series opaque twist wine glass dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1765.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot commensurate with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has a bell-shaped bowl measuring 7.1 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of four white enamel cords wound around a central gauze. The stem has three knops, a scarce configuration, and leads to a conical foot which measures 7.8 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter. The glass is 17.2 cm (6.9 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are some tiny inclusions in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture.

Lead glass weighing in at 170 g. (~ 6 oz.).
