George III Silver Tankard 1790

Description

A 18th Century Silver Tankard.

the George III silver tankard with a domed cover spreading in convex and concave rounded bands to a reeded rim. The cover hinging open with an open scrolled thumb piece. The body of baluster shape with a rounded and reeded girdle, the body sweeping to a concave and thence ogee foot, finished with a a fine reed edge. The handle sweeping in a taper to a heart shaped terminal. The interior in silver gilt.

Hall marked to the base and cover for Peter & Ann Bateman, London 1790.
