This unusual sofa is executed in giltwood and was made in the middle of the 19th century. Aspects of the design are in the antiquarian taste, popular during this period, and the ornament combines gothic detailing such as the capitals on the legs and the spandrel brackets, with Elizabethan revivalism such as the rose motifs.
