Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton Revival furniture emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing inspiration from Thomas Sheratons late 18th-century classical designs characterised by straight lines, delicate proportions, inlaid timber, and refined satinwood or mahogany craftsmanship.

These pieces typically utilise high-grade mahogany with intricate marquetry or stringing in contrasting timbers like satinwood. Construction involves hand-dovetailed drawers, glass panes held by geometric astragal glazing bars, and modular sections to allow easier transportation.

Look for features such as fine boxwood or satinwood inlay, elegant astragal glazing, brass handles, and a well-proportioned breakfront architecture where the central section projects forward from the side wings. Cabinetmakers stamps or maker labels, such as those from reputable late-Victorian firms, also confirm authenticity.

Anchor the bookcase against a neutral feature wall in a dining room, library, or expansive living area. Contrast the traditional dark wood by displaying curated contemporary ceramics, art books, and minimalist glassware alongside traditional volumes inside the glazed sections.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, polishing along the wood grain. Clean glass panes with a dampened cloth or specialised glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the astragal moulding.
