Rare Chinese cloisonne enamel archiastic wine vessel ''Jue'' cup - Qing Dynasty. Circa 1860. Possibly earlier.
The inverted dome-form body surmounted by a large cupped lip, decorated around the body and interior with T-fret inlaid design, chinese symbols and bats. Lip set with two opposing upright posts, supported by three tall triangular shaped legs. 23.5cm high.
Adapting the archaic jue form from bronze vessels, the present jue is quite rare and few comparable examples are known. This reinvention of the jue in cloisonné enamel seems to have been a practice even before the Qing dynasty. An extremely rare example.
Condition: Will stand up-right, but not very stable. Good original form. Minor dents. A surviving rarity, but with numerous enamel loses around legs (slightly bent) and body (slightly mis-shapen).
