Description

A light blue japanned and chinoiserie decorated long case clock, signed by George Milne.

The case is in excellent condition, with various decorative elements pointing to the early part of the eighteenth century. The trunk door is profusely covered with raised pagodas, figures, and with a horse and rider towards the base.

The 12" break arch dial, signed George Milne, of Holyrood House, on an oval cartouche, with subsidiary seconds dial, and a calendar dial in the arch, having an eight day duration movement.

It is most unusual to see a clock signed with this address.
