A truly exceptional Victorian dressing table.
We are offering this original Victorian Mahogany Ladies vanity dressing table made around C1870 made with the highest quality of cabinetry craftsmanship and presented in exceptionally fantastic condition throughout.
The drawer units are affixed to the top which house the very ornate shaped and fretwork carved mirror supports depicting a floral scene and are perfectly mirrored either side. The mirror is framed by the most stunning internally bevelled arch top frame which has cross-banded flame Mahogany to all faces, the mirror itself is in fantastic condition with no foxing or imperfections in the silvering. The mirror is held firm when tilted by its original brass clamps to the rear and the back of the mirror is unusually panelled solid mahogany showing its quality. The dressing table base features a more simple typical Victorian silhouette having a solid Mahogany 1 plank top with 2 beautifully constructed dovetailed drawers in the frieze, each of which have its 2 original turned Mahogany knobs. The dressing table has curved front corners and is raised on 4 beautifully turned and fluted legs which has a great presence whilst not being intrusive to a room. As a sign of the cabinet makers craftsmanship, the drawers can be placed into the carcasses upside down and still work perfectly . This dressing table has been sympathetically restored maintaining original patina, signs of age and has a lovely deep rich original colour and lightly faded glossy French polished finish. We have just enhanced this item by cleaning and carefully waxing this item to give a natural lustrous sheen and preserve and protect the item. Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there. We feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character.
