Antique 3.20ct Turquoise and 0.23ct Diamond, 18ct Yellow Gold Egyptian Revival Pendant Circa 1880

19th century
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive, antique Victorian 3.20 carat turquoise and 0.23 carat diamond, 18 carat yellow gold Egyptian Revival pendant; part of our Victorian jewellery collection.

This stunning, fine and impressive antique Victorian pendant has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold.

This impressive example of Egyptian Revival jewellery has been modelled in the form of stylised scarab beetle; this style of 19th century jewellery is inspired by the art and symbolism of ancient Egypt.

The pendant is embellished with an impressive oval cabochon turquoise to the beetle's abdomen, with a further circular cabochon replicating the head, each collet set.

The scalloped and displayed ribbed wings are ornamented with eight pavé set Old European cut diamonds, graduating in size.

The plain yellow gold limbs of the beetle each flank further horizontally collet set oval cabochon cut turquoises.

The feature design suspends from 18ct yellow gold chains attached to the tips of the wings and ornamented with a further collet set cabochon cut turquoise to the apex.

This diamond and turquoise pendant is suspended from a 17' 18ct chain and fastens via a conventional spring-loaded bolt fastening to the reverse.

This stunning antique Victorian pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18ct gold.

The antique pendant in gold is supplied with an IDGL gemstone and diamond grading report card.

This Victorian Egyptian Revival pendant is a distinctive gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or academic milestones, especially suited to those drawn to history, symbolism, or antique jewellery.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive antique pendant is exceptional quality, set with impressive turquoises displaying fine colour and presence.

The diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance; the diamonds are clarity graded at P1, however, they show no unsightly black inclusions.

The pendant is an exceptional gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of turquoise jewellery.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Egyptian Revival jewellery refers to decorative pieces created during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries inspired by the discoveries of ancient Egyptian tombs and monuments, incorporating motifs such as scarabs, sphinxes, and lotus flowers.

Pieces from this era commonly featured 15ct or 18ct yellow gold, enamel work, cabochon gemstones such as turquoise and lapis lazuli, and accent diamonds.

Authentic pieces exhibit late nineteenth-century metalwork techniques, appropriate gold fineness hallmarks or maker marks, period-specific stone cuts, and hand-finished details.

When not worn, fine jewellery of this nature can be displayed mounted inside a glazed velvet-lined shadow box or resting atop a brass glass-topped jewellery casket on a dressing table.

Turquoise is a porous gemstone that should be kept away from water, oils, perfumes, and direct heat to prevent discolouration, and cleaned using only a dry, soft microfibre cloth.
