Description

A very fine porcelain cabinet plate with unusual relief moulded raised decoration of a spray of roses with an approaching hummingbird. Beautifully painted by a very skilled hand and finished with a high shine glaze to show the raised relief to full effect. Shaped rim with elegant gilt detail. Impressed factory mark to the reverse for George Jones & Sons, some other small impressed marks and the pattern number painted 5395X in black enamel. c.1880.

It measures 22.5cm (8 7/8") wide and 1.3cm (1/2") high.

In excellent condition, there is a small inconsequential chip to the foot rim but no other damage or repair and no discernible handling wear.
