Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Novelty silver pin cushions gained popularity during the Edwardian era, particularly following the introduction of the teddy bear in the early twentieth century. Silversmiths produced various animal-shaped sewing accessories to cater to collectors and craft enthusiasts.

These items were typically cast or struck from sterling silver, featuring a hollow body stuffed with velvet, fabric, or horsehair to hold pins securely. Silver hallmarks were often stamped onto the base or body to indicate purity and origin.

Authentic pieces generally feature clear silversmith hallmarks, makers marks, and date letters stamped into the silver casing. Collectors also examine the wear patterns on the metal and the construction of the fabric insert.

Small silver novelties can be displayed inside a glass vitrine, arranged on a decorative tray on an office desk, or showcased on a curated bookshelf. Their compact scale allows them to add historical detail to sideboards or dressing tables.

Clean silver surfaces gently using a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a mild silver polish, avoiding direct contact with any fabric or velvet cushion inserts. Store the item in a low-humidity environment to minimise oxidisation and tarnish.
