The Opium bed is a secluded place to meditate, they were very popular in the 19th century particularly in opium dens
These beds featured three sides to prevent drafts and ensure the opium lamp flame remained steady. They were often adorned with carved panels, painted designs, and auspicious symbols, reflecting the cultural context of their use. They served as a place to relax, smoke opium, and socialise.
This one benefits from a new velvet covered mattress, it is set on wheels making it reasonably easy to move, and with fantastic carvings and mesh panels becomes an interesting addition to any lounge
