Antique Victorian Solid Silver Teapot in Louis Xv Rococo Style - Barnard 1854

19th century
Description

We are delighted to offer this exceptional Louis XV/Rococo style Victorian teapot with marks for Edward & John Barnard, London 1854.

Barnards produced a wide array of articles with varying degrees of ornamental decorations; with some pieces being made with exceptional quality and unique features, a cut above the rest.

Such remarkable craftsmanship is evident in this teapot and the external Rococo embossing/chasing which are exquisite and extensive.

True to Rococo form and philosophy, the teapot is embellished with scrolls, flowers and fluid motifs as if to reflect the nature of the tea held within, whilst also inviting its onlookers to appreciate its artistry from all angles.

The top lid features a heavy and ornamental finial in addition to further and rococo styled chasing and stippling.

The interior is fully clean and in excellent usable condition with no leaks or issues and the handle remains firm with a reassuring feel.

The base is fully hallmarked with English marks.

A highly ornate and decorative teapot ideal to highlight and add Rococo taste to a collection or for an indulgent time with personal usage. Perfect to elevate the ambience of an interior whether be it complementary to a classical look or perhaps as a juxtaposing single piece in a modern interior.
