A beautiful French Marriage Mirror c1820.

The tradition of giving marriage mirrors as wedding gifts dates back to the 1600s. The mirrors would often be placed in a bridal chest.

This one has a giltwood frame featuring its original plate, moulded gesso frame, and decorative frieze on top. The worn gilding reveals red underneath, adding character and thre are some old repairs to be expected on this old and treasured item.
