Stunning Top-notch Large Jewellery Box - Intricate Inlaid Coromandel C.1850

Description

Simply stunning in every way, this is a large scale Jewelry box making it perfect for everyday use, made from exotic Coromandel with the most sensational inlay, top quality.

Both the front and top are adorned with this decoration, a combination of Mother of Pearl, Abalone Shell and exquisitely cut brass. If you look carefully, the top of the central inlaid panel is created to form a crown, this too is used on the front panel at the bottom; a clear sign of this box's aristocratic beginnings.

The interior has been beautifully re-lined in blue velvet, creating the most perfect, clean finish to rest one's gems. The button between the two hinges, once pressed, will open the spring loaded drawer with it's original fitted interior, it can now be seen how beautifully matched the top compartment has been refinished.

A stunning heirloom example in excellent condition. Measuring 12 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" tall.
