Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Occasional tables from the early 20th century were manufactured for versatile placement within living spaces. Burr walnut pieces from this era frequently drew design elements from 18th-century English furniture, featuring patterned figure veneers, turned supports, and decorative stretchers.

Burr walnut tables combine thin slices of highly figured root or burl wood veneer over solid timber frames. Construction often incorporates crossbanded borders, stringing inlay, turned leg columns, and carved central supports.

Authentic pieces feature natural variations in the timber grain, historic joinery techniques underneath the apron, and slight patination across lower stretchers and feet. Veneers from this era display fine figure patterns with age-appropriate natural shrinkage lines around the borders.

A burr walnut table functions as a focal point in a reading corner, bay window, or alongside contemporary seating. Juxtaposing rich timber tones against neutral textiles or modern ceramics highlights the natural wood grain.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture to prevent veneer lifting. Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and an occasional application of natural beeswax polish along the grain direction helps preserve the finish.
