We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Malachite gained widespread popularity in Victorian jewellery during the mid-to-late 19th century. Driven by interest in Scottish hardstones and Archaeological Revival movements, jewelers frequently paired the distinctively banded green stone with intricate gold settings.

Victorian brooches of this caliber typically feature solid yellow gold settings, such as 15ct or 18ct gold, crafted using traditional techniques like wirework, filigree, and granulation surrounding a hand-polished mineral cabochon.

Authentic pieces feature period-appropriate fastenings, including long steel or gold pin stems that often extend past the rim with simple C-clasps. Additionally, natural malachite exhibits distinct uneven banding rather than identical machine-made patterns.

An antique brooch can be styled on a contemporary blazer lapel, pinned to a silk scarf, or attached to a wide velvet ribbon to wear as a choker, adding a historical focal point to modern clothing.

Malachite is a relatively soft stone sensitive to chemicals, heat, and moisture. Clean the piece gently using only a dry, soft microfibre cloth and store it separately from harder gemstones to prevent scratches.
