An attractive antique early 20th century oil painting on canvas. Depicting a Japanese gold decorated bronze bowl standing on a Chinese hardwood and marble table. The vase is filled with a colourful Zinnia flower arrangement. The background is painted in a graduated pale blue. The picture is signed to the top right Angelico. The name Angelico is a pseudonym for Herbert Gustav Schmalz (1856-1935) an English artist who is considerd one of the Pre-Raphaelites. From 1918 onwards he painted under the name Herbert Carmichael. The painting is presented in a decorative gilt wood frame with cord for hanging To the reverse is a handwritten note, Zinnias in a gold Japanese vase painted by Angelico. Image size 74cm high by 62cm wide. Frame size 93cm high by 81cm wide.

Very good condition, some small areas of inpainting, a few minor marks to the frame.
