Description

A South Indian carved wood watch holder, c. 1860. Carved to all sides with figures and animals, from Hindu mythology, amongst dense foliage.

The base carved with a continuous leaf motif.

Having a lightly domed cover, carved with further figures, lifting to reveal a holder for a pocket watch.

Height – 12.7 cm, 5”.

Width – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.

Depth – 6.5 cm, 2 1/2”.

Condition – Small chips to the edges – please see images for detail. No repair.
