A charming early 19th-century country armchair handcrafted in ash and beech, full of well-worn vernacular character.
The back features curved rails with decorative turned bobbin-esque elements, all crafted in figured ash. The arms are hand shaped in ash, set above ring-turned beech uprights. Boldly figured and beautifully time worn turned ash stretchers add both visual interest and strength to the frame, while the seat appears to have been traditionally re-rushed some time ago.
Honest and full of rural character, a practical and decorative piece, ideal for use in a hallway, by the fire or as a general occasional chair — equally at home in a country cottage or a more eclectic interior.
Presented in very good antique condition with appealing aged surface wear. Structurally all sound, clean, and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1825.
