Antique Oak Welsh Dresser (18th Century - North Wales / Anglesey)

This charming George III oak Welsh dresser (Circa 1770 - 1790) is from North Wales or Anglesey and is a good example. The oak has retained a warm and inviting colour, and its six drawers still have their swan neck handles and rope-edged oval backplates (fashionable during this period) in situ. Its original wide backboards have, over their lifetime, been decorated with many layers of green paint. This additional decoration and colour are particularly associated with the North Wales area. This quintessential Welsh dresser, with its characteristic shaped panelled doors and canopy is not only visually appealing, but also a perfect a perfect vehicle for displaying contemporary and antique dinner services and providing much-needed storage within the kitchen.
