Pair of late C19th ormolu bronze mounted white marble reversible cassolettes in the Louis XVI taste.

Smart pair of statuary white marble lidded cassolette candlesticks having ovoid bodies with ram’s head tripod athenienne style supports with cloven feet onto detailed cast bases . Raised on shaped marble plinths with ormolu bead decoration and triple turned ormolu feet below.

The tapering ovoid bodies mounted with ormolu floral swags , the reversible domed lids having cast berry finials and mounts , the shaped ormolu bronze candleholders with cast fluted detail.

In excellent original condition with no damage or repairs. The marble with a bright polished surface and luminescence , the cast ormolu bronze mounts with a subtle aged gilded surface and patina.

A fine quality pair of decorative cassolettes for use perhaps on a mantelpiece or side cabinet.
