Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 1920s.
It has brass corners and strapping and stands firmly on Queen Anne feet. The sides and back are also carved. To the sides are two metal handles along with its original brass campaign style handle to the lid and brass escutcheon. Inside, the chest is clean camphor wood with its distinctive pleasant aroma and has a brass support arm and brass lock stamped “Tinkee”. An attractive example with good colour and patina. Would make a great blanket chest, storage box or could be used as a decorative coffee table or TV stand. The feet are a later addition.
