Victorian Double Ended Silver Scent

19th century
Description

A beautiful example of a double ended torpedo shaped scent bottle. The smooth glass body is divided into two sections, each with a solid sterling silver top. The one end is a screw top and the other end is hinged. One end is engraved "Joe".

It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1885 and the maker Thomas Johnson II

It is in very good condition for its age. There are some small marks here and there, minor dinks to the silver ends and general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There are no cracks or damages to the glass. It has been cleaned and gently polished and overall it displays very well.

Approximate Measurements :

Length : 5" / 13cm

Width : 1” / 2.5cm

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
