Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Karabagh rugs originate from the Southern Caucasus region, renowned for their bold geometric compositions, expressive colour palettes, and distinct tribal weaving traditions. Historically crafted in rural villages, these rugs often incorporate stylized floral motifs, central medallions, and occasionally woven inscriptions or weaver signatures.

Caucasian rugs are predominantly hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation. Dyes were traditionally extracted from natural local sources such as madder root, indigo, and botanical extracts, yielding saturated red, blue, and earth tones.

Authentic antique Karabagh rugs feature hand-tied knots visible on the underside, natural colour variations known as abrash, and slight asymmetry characteristic of village handcraft. The presence of woven signatures, dates, or Armenian or Cyrillic lettering also indicates authentic regional origin.

A colourful Caucasian rug introduces texture and historical depth when placed on neutral hardwood or stone flooring. It serves as an effective focal point in living areas, dining spaces, or hallways, pairing equally well with clean minimalist furniture or layered bohemian schemes.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating brush to protect the hand-knotted wool pile. Address spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth and lukewarm water, and rotate the rug periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure.
