An unusually small 6 drawer Semanier chest.
Usually a Semanier chest of drawers has 7 drawers as the word translates roughly to a weeks supply, however, unusually this one is particularly small having just 6 drawers.
This stunning chest features a solid marble top, complete with a particularly lovely brass gallery edge. The chest has quartered book-matched Kingwood sides, framed by Boxwood and Satinwood stringing to both sides and each drawer with the drawers being further enhanced being framed with Mahogany. Each drawer is beautifully constructed featuring Oak sides and dovetail construction complete with lovely brass knobs incorporating rosettas. The chest also features beautiful brass ormolu to each front top corners depicting a theatre pattern. This high quality chest has a shaped lower apron to 4 slender legs. The chest has a lovely mellow Kingwood colour with its original French polished finish. We have just cleaned and waxed this lovely chest to give a natural shine and enhance the original finish.
This rare and petite chest is all original and solid with no joint movement, the drawers are operating perfectly with no wear.
Please note; Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character. We have left it untouched and as it came in from the previous owner apart from just cleaning and waxing this item.
