Here we have a Victorian (1837-1901) Figured Walnut Campaign Chest of Drawers with 3 long drawers to the bottom and 2 small drawers to the top all the with original brass handles. Standing on 4 turned toupee feet, which can all be unscrewed for compactness and ease of travel, a unique feature of campaign chests. The chest features brass fittings and the figured walnut veneer to front of the drawers has been carefully arranged for a continuous flame like pattern showing the thoughtfulness and art of design of the original maker.
Campaign furniture was furniture created for the purpose of accompanying people when travelling across the world (predominantly known for the pieces created in 18th and 19th centuries) mostly for military campaigns but was also used by adventurers and explorers. This type of furniture was designed with being moved frequently in mind, most of which featured handles, and separate into multiple pieces.
